The BBC announced on Wednesday that the next, loosely planned Doctor Who Christmas special from Russell T Davies has been cancelled, as the long-running sci-fi series is "put out to competitive tender."
Meaning, the BBC now will field pitches from other production companies to redevelop and take the series forward.
