'The X-Files' Reboot From Ryan Coogler Scores Series Order at Hulu
Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel will play decorated FBI agents investigating unexplained phenomena.
X-Files marks the spot for Hulu.
The streamer announced on Tuesday that Ryan Coogler’s take on The X-Files has been picked up to series.

An Onyx Collective co-production between 20th Television in association with Coogler's Proximity Media, the "reimagining" of the classic sci-fi series stars Danielle Deadwyler (Till) and Himesh Patel (Station Eleven) as "two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents who form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena."

“I’ve loved The X-Files for a long time, so getting the chance to write and direct the pilot has meant a great deal to me,” said Coogler, whose credits include the Black Panther films and Sinner. “What Chris Carter created is special, and we wanted to honor everything that made the original series connect with so many people while also finding our own way into that world.
"Danielle and Himesh, along with the rest of our cast, have brought such original perspectives and performances to these characters, and watching that come together has been one of the most rewarding parts of the experience," Coogler added.
Carter's X-Files ran for nine seasons on Fox (from September 1993 through May 2002), spawned a pair of feature films, and in January 2016 reunited OG leads David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson for what would be a two-season revival.

Coogler wrote, directed and executive produced the pilot and will serve as showrunner on the Hulu series. Other executive producers include Carter, Jennifer Yale, Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian, while Deadwyler, Patel and Simone Harris have co-EP credits.
