'Lanterns' EPs Detail Plan for Power Rings, Cosmic Flourishes: 'They're Human Beings First'
Chris Mundy ('True Detective') and Damon Lindelof ('Lost') tout delicate balance between a human mystery and comic book doo-dads.
HBO powered up Lanterns this Sunday night, though the first episode might have been quite less cosmic than comic book fans expected.
Hailing from showrunner Chris Mundy (Ozark, True Detective Season 4) and fellow series co-creators Damon Lindelof (Watchmen) and Tom King (a DC Comics vet), Lanterns stars Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights) and Aaron Pierre (Krypton) as, respectively, Green Lantern Corps legend Hal Jordan and trainee John Stewart.

The pilot opens in 1996, where a young John, without his U.S. Marine father's blessing, attentively regards a 60 Minutes interview with Hal Jordan aka "Earth's first Green Lantern."
