Is the Cybertruck Ready for Its TV Close-Up? Why the Tesla Has Been Scarce On-Screen
More than a year after its release, Tesla's Cybertruck has been quite scarce on TV — producers and experts explain why.

Picture this: The cops on a TV procedural are chasing a lead when a POI jumps into a Cybertruck and speeds off, muscling past any challenging terrain in his way.
Or, during an exchange of gunfire, someone ducks for cover behind a Cybertruck, which is not "bulletproof" per se but is said to offer some resistance to certain types of ammunition.
The futuristic-looking vehicle would seem a ready-made successor to, say, KITT, or as the go-to ride for an ostentatious TV character. And yet well over a year after Tesla rolled out the first Cybertruck, it has rarely stepped into the on-screen spotlight.
Matt's Inside Line spoke with multiple TV showrunners, as well as the suppliers of cars for TV and film productions, to find out why the Cybertruck isn't ready — or, for the most part, wanted — for its close-up.
